Alaskan Malamute breed was created by Alaska Eskimo tribe at the end of
19th century. They found it very useful dog and used it for the purpose
of transportation over snow. They are basically belong to the breed of
Nordic dogs because they are descendents of the Arctic Wolf.
According to an estimate, there are almost 800 dog breeds in U.S and in
the world. But only 100 to 200 dog breeds are populated throughout the
world. Dog breeding is a process to create entirely new breeds with
improving qualities of existing breeds. Many famous dog breeds of the
world and especially U.S dog species are created within the past 500
years in U.S and other parts of the world.
Toy Fox Terrier:
This special dog breed was developed by crossing Fox Terrior with other
small Toy breeds usually Chihuahua in early 1900 in United states. These
dogs are commonly known as American Toy Terrier or Amertoy. This breed
is highly intelligent and trainable dog breed.
Plott:
Plott Hound is the only breed known to have originated in North Carolina
State in 1750. These dogs are hunting dogs. They have superior hunting
instincts. They are very effective in the search for coyotes, wolves,
and wildcats. In 1989, it was declared as the the official state dog of
North Carolina.
Cocker Spaniel:
Cocker Spaniel is the small medium size cheerful dog. They have two
types. The English breed is the ancestor breed of American Cocker
Spaniel. They were arrived in North America in early 14th century. This
breed is basically a hunting-gun dog. They are able to work in difficult
terrain in both wet and dry land.
Chesapeake Bay Retriever:
The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a powerful, muscular dog and more
aggressive than most retrievers. They came from English land to the
coast of Maryland in 1807. they were recognized by AKC in 1878.
Boston Terrier:
The breed is purely an American creation, by crossing an English Bulldog
with a white English Terrier in the mid of 19th century in the city of
Boston. The breed was recognized by the AKC in 1893. It was breed for
dog fighting, companionship. They are also known as the “American
Gentleman.”
Black and Tan Coonhound:
This large muscular dog breed was developed by crossing Bloodhound and
Talbothound in England, and then in USA, resulting crossed breed was
further crossed with Virginia Foxhound. It was first recognized by the
AKC in 1945. This breed is known for its successful use in trailing and
treeing raccoon, howling at his quarry.
Australian Shepherd:
This medium-sized working dogs was developed in the mountainous range of
Spain and France and further it was refined in America during the 1800s
as a working dog that herded livestock on ranches. It was recognized by
the AKC in 1993.
American Water Spaniel:
It was originated in the mid of 19th century in the United States around
Wisconsin and Minnesota. AKC recognized it as a breed in 1940. They
also have the title of the state dog of Wisconsin. They are used as
hunters as well as family pets.
American Staffordshire Terrier:
It was developed by crossing Bulldogs and terriers during 19th century
in America. The breed was bred to have a broader and more authoritative
head after breeding in America. AKC classified it as an American breed
in 1936.
